Track MCP lets teams investigate individual shipments and compare carriers by volume and exception rates by asking questions in plain language

nShift today announced Track MCP. Ecommerce, customer service and delivery teams can now investigate deliveries and analyze carrier performance using AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini or Fin.AI. The answers come from live nShift Track data, whether a team is checking one order or looking for patterns across carriers.

An operations lead preparing for peak season can ask how shipment volumes changed month by month across carriers, using up to 13 months of data to compare with the previous year’s peak. For a carrier review, teams can request exception rates and ask the assistant to turn the results into a chart or dashboard. nShift Track supplies the data; connected AI assistants build the views according to their capabilities.

Teams can keep refining the analysis with follow-up questions in the same conversation. They can compare return shipment volumes with outbound volumes or identify parcels that have passed their estimated delivery window and are still undelivered. Customer service teams can also look up an order by tracking or order number and retrieve its event history and the carrier’s estimated delivery window.

“Our customers should be able to bring their delivery data into the AI tools they choose for their business. That means giving those tools access to the shipment records and carrier data behind the questions teams need answered. We want more people to be able to investigate delivery performance themselves and use what they find in customer conversations and carrier decisions.”

Johan Hellman, Chief Product Officer at nShift

The connection uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard for connecting AI agents to tools and data. Users sign in with their nShift Portal account and use their own AI assistant subscriptions. Access is read-only: the agent can retrieve and analyze data, while shipments and settings remain unchanged.

Track MCP is part of nShift’s work toward a proactive, AI-led nShift Portal that helps teams understand what has changed in their deliveries and why. Alongside nShift Companion’s in-product guidance, businesses can now bring Track data into compatible external assistants for their own analysis.
