Happy Angler secures happier customers with nShift Checkout

The Challenge
Part of the Swedish Rusta Group, Happy Angler (formerly Hong Kong Fishing Online Store) sells over 10,000 fishing brand products to online customers in Finland, Sweden and 34 other countries across Europe.
In 2020, the company took the decision to update its 10-year-old ecommerce platform. The aim was to find a cost-effective solution that would provide customers with a more streamlined shopping experience and give Happy Angler employees greater flexibility and control.
The team decided early on that they wanted to use nShift Checkout as part of their new solution. Another Rusta website was already using the product to great effect. They had also heard lots of positive things from their 3PL provider, who have been using nShift to manage Happy Angler deliveries for more than a decade.
The level of control that nShift Checkout gives to users like me has been a big plus. Now, if we want to change elements of the checkout experience, we don’t have to go through a third party. We can do it ourselves.

The Solution
Powered by nShift Checkout, in combination with Storm Commerce and Klarna, the new Happy Angler checkout solution provides online shoppers with a clear and intuitive shopping experience.
Customers are offered a range of delivery options, tailored to their location and the items in their basket. In Finland, this includes the option to collect from thousands of different pick-up points as an alternative to getting parcels home delivered.
The new solution has also made life better for members of the Happy Angler team. As Teemu Kangas, Ecommerce Specialist at Happy Angler, explains: “The level of control that nShift Checkout gives to users like me has been a big plus. Now, if we want to change elements of the checkout experience, we don’t have to go through a third party. We can do it ourselves.”
The Results
Teemu identifies three key benefits that nShift Checkout has brought him and for the rest of the Happy Angler team since its implementation in 2021.
First is cost savings. “I believe nShift to be highly cost-effective,” he says. “Much more cost-effective than if we had created our own custom solution.” Second is the user interface, which gives the team much greater autonomy and control.
Last (but definitely not least) is expansion opportunities. “It is now much easier for us to add delivery options to our checkout, thanks to the access we have to nShift’s world-leading carrier library. If at any time we want to expand our selection or grow into new markets, we can – fast.”
In the future, Teemu and the rest of the Happy Angler team are also keen to explore the possibility of promoting green delivery solutions through nShift Checkout. “Sustainability is a growing concern for our customers,” he says. “So being able to offer delivery options based on energy efficiency as well as cost is something that we think could give us a competitive edge.”
